Life at PKF

Inbound secondee: From Brisbane to London

Jessica Hermann is an inbound secondee from Brisbane, Australia, who joined us in January 2023 as an assignment leader for a six-month secondment.

My secondment experience so far has been great! My colleagues in the Business Services team have been very friendly and welcoming, inviting me and the other secondees to various events and catch-ups. It means making friends has been so much easier, which is invaluable when you’re far away from home.

There’s a good balance between work and other aspects of life at PKF, which has given me the opportunity to explore London and beyond.

“I’ve visited attractions around London, which I’ve really enjoyed, and never thought I’d get the chance to see. I’ve toured the Painted Hall and the rest of the Old Royal Navel College in Greenwich, been on the London Eye, experienced the Tower of London, and I’ve seen Big Ben and Tower Bridge. I’ve also seen a musical at West End and visited many bookshops and stores along the way.”

With the flexibility at PKF, I’ve been able to take some time off so that my fiancé can visit for a few weeks, and we can travel and explore new places together!

The work I’ve done so far has been interesting and has given me the chance to learn how the UK approach auditing compared to Australia, make new friends and explore the London. I thought an opportunity like this was too good to be true – but the last 3 months have been amazing, and I can’t wait to see how the adventure continues!
